The Phu Quoc Night Market is one of the island’s most vibrant attractions, offering a lively atmosphere, delicious local food, and unique souvenirs. It’s a must-visit spot for experiencing the local culture and tasting the flavors of this tropical paradise.
Location
The market is located at 6 Bach Dang Street, right in the heart of Duong Dong Town on Phu Quoc Island.
Previously, there was a smaller night market called Dinh Cau Night Market on Vo Thi Sau Street, just 150 meters away. In October 2016, this market officially merged with Bach Dang Night Market, forming the current, larger Phu Quoc Night Market.
Since this change, the area has become more spacious and organized. Stalls now have more room to showcase their goods, and visitors can explore the market in a cleaner, more open space. This redesign also allows the market to accommodate more people, especially during the peak tourist season.
How to get there
If you’re staying in or near Duong Dong Town, getting to the night market is straightforward. You can walk or cycle there, as the market is centrally located and easy to access.
For those staying further from the center, taking a taxi or using Grab is the most convenient option. Grab is a ride-hailing app similar to Uber and is widely available on the island. Taxis and Grab rides are reliable and easy to arrange, but if you’re staying in a more remote area, it’s a good idea to book your ride in advance through your hotel to avoid long wait times.
Alternatively, renting a motorbike or scooter is a popular option for those who prefer flexibility. Renting one typically costs around 150,000–250,000 VND per day. While Phu Quoc’s roads are generally quiet and easy to navigate, ensure you have riding experience and a valid driver’s license before choosing this option.
Opening times
The market operates daily from 6:00 PM to 11:30 PM, but some stalls open as early as 3:00–4:00 PM. However, the market is at its liveliest around 8:00 PM, when it transforms into a bustling hub of nightlife.
On busier nights or during favorable weather, some vendors stay open well past midnight, with crowds lingering until 2:00–3:00 AM. Keep in mind that operating hours may vary slightly depending on the season and weather conditions.
What to see and buy at the market
The Phu Quoc Night Market is home to over 100 stalls, divided into two main zones that offer a mix of local delicacies and unique souvenirs.
- Zone 1: Located at the entrance, this area features food stalls and carts selling fresh seafood, dried specialties, and local treats like sim wine and fish sauce.
- Zone 2: Found towards the end of the market, this zone is where you’ll find souvenir stalls offering everything from handicrafts to pearl jewelry at reasonable prices.
Food at the night market
Seafood
Seafood is the highlight of the market, with an impressive variety caught locally and served fresh. You’ll find shrimp, squid, crab, snails, and more, all prepared in various styles such as grilled with onion, satay, or seasoned with salt and chili. Prices are affordable and clearly displayed, so you can enjoy your meal without surprises.
For some, the seafood experience may feel a bit exotic. Expect to see live tanks of fish, dishes like crab blood soup, and unusual offerings like grilled sea urchins or horn scallops. While some items might be unfamiliar, they are an integral part of Phu Quoc’s culinary scene.
Snacks
Beyond seafood, the market has plenty of snack options. You can try ice cream rolls, grilled bananas wrapped in sticky rice with coconut cream, or Vietnamese pizza. For a quick treat, pick up Chouchou peanuts, a local favorite, or enjoy a fresh juice or smoothie made with tropical fruits from nearby farms.
Souvenirs at the night market
Aside from food, the night market is a great place to shop for souvenirs.
- Pearl jewelry: Phu Quoc is famous for its high-quality pearls, making this a perfect gift or keepsake.
- Wild myrtle wine: Made from myrtle fruit harvested in the Ham Ninh forest, this unique wine is a true local specialty.

In addition to these traditional items, you’ll find a wide range of other souvenirs, including bracelets, keychains, printed shirts, wind chimes, engraved wooden paintings, tote bags, handbags, and handmade passport cases. Prices are generally reasonable, making it easy to pick up a memento of your trip.
